Performer Information

Wollongong Belly Dance Festival invites members of the dance community to perform at the festival Showcase which will run concurrently with the Market Bazaar on Saturday 26th August. This event is open to the general public. There are no prerequisites or experience level needed to apply; the festival encourages dance performers of all levels and any dance/musical genre to perform in this non-competitive family show.

performer categories:

  • Perform a Solo piece - 1 performer. Duration is 5 minutes max per solo
  • Perform with a troupe - A troupe is 2 or more performers. Duration is 6 minutes max per troupe. Note: Payment is $10 total for the whole group.
  • Perform in the Potluck Improvisation - This event is for soloists who wish to perform a 2-3min improvisation. Music is chosen by the festival. Performers who register must be present during 1.30-2.30pm for your name to be called to perform your improvised piece. There are no rules and no prerequisites - just move to the music! Only 20 spots available so be quick!
Important info - please read:
  • Venue: City Diggers - 82 Church St, Wollongong
  • Showcase applications close Fri 3rd Aug, or earlier if program becomes full
  • Act Duration: 5 minutes max per solo, 6 minutes max per troupe, potluck 2-3mins improvisation.
  • Cost per performance: Solo acts: $5 per, Troupe acts: $10, Potluck Improvisation: $10
  • Payment: to be paid in full with each application, please pay for your performer fees at the time of registration (bottom of this page!) Performances spots will not be held, your registration will be forfeited if your payment isn't received within 24hrs of form submission.
  • Troupes: please provide the names of your troupe members.
  • Music: must be provided in the following form formats:
    • Ipod - please create a new playlist with ONLY your performance piece in the list.      
    • CD backup in the correct order of play. CDs must be clearly labelled with name of act, track name and      duration.
  • Performance times: please indicate your preferred time, we will do our best to accommodate your preference. Potluck performance times are not allocated, by booking your spot you agree to be present at the Showcase venue between 1.30-2.30pm on Sat 26th Aug.
  • Cancellations: if you choose to cancel your performance please contact us as soon as possible. Performance fees are non-refundable. You may however give your spot to someone else provided they inform us of the change in performer 2 weeks prior to the festival.
  • Confirmation: Your performance time will be confirmed via the email address you provide us, so please make sure it's correct.
