Wollongong Belly Dance Festival is a biennial 3 day event which aims to celebrate the diverse traditions of belly dance, folkloric Middle Eastern dance, and its fusions. The festival was founded by event producer Virginia Keft in 2011 and was the first of its kind for the Illawarra and South Coast. The 2017 festival is set to be even bigger and better with a very special international guest artist Esmeralda of Brazil!
Virginia is dedicated to fostering a sense of Middle Eastern dance community, and hopes to provide dancers from around Australia and beyond the opportunity to expand their knowledge by attending workshops, dance shows, markets and social events.
Whether you're a spectator, a curious beginner, or a seasoned professional Wollongong Belly Dance Festival promises an exciting and fun-filled weekend of dance for all.
Wollongong is only 1hr 15mins drive from Sydney and with its rich and vibrant arts, music, and dance scene Wollongong provides the perfect backdrop for what is shaping up to be a spectacular event.
