Workshop Information
Festival Desk
The festival information desk will be located in the upstairs foyer of the Novotel Northbeach outside of the workshop rooms. Signage on the day will direct you (plus the sight of belly dancers wandering around will be a giveaway). The festival desk will also include a promotions table, please feel free to bring along business cards or brochures for display.
What's on offer?
The festival will present 12 dance and drumming workshops covering a range of traditional Middle East and belly dance styles along with contemporary fusion and world dance. Read the workshop descriptions by using the 'workshops' drop down menu above or click here.
Cost
All workshops cost $30.00 per 2 hour workshop unless otherwise stated. Workshop costs are in Australian dollars including GST. Please note that the cost of the workshop is for attendance, whether you choose to physically participate or not.
Children
Entry to workshops is restricted to paying participants only, this includes children. Please note that non-paying spectators of any age will not be admitted to workshops under any circumstances.
To Book
Use the 'Bookings' tab above to purchase tickets online. Alternatively, you may download the festival booking form, print it out, fill it in and return it with your payment. Important: if you are booking workshops for more than one person, you must use a separate form for each individual because we need full contact details for each workshop participant.
Can I buy tickets on the day?
A limited number of workshop and events tickets may be available for purchase at the festival desk during the weekend. Please check the festival 'blog & news' for sold-out status of workshops and events.
Changed your mind?
Sorry, we cannot provide refunds nor can we exchange tickets. However, you may sell or swap your spot with someone else. In this case when you sign in at the door you will need to let the workshop assistant know your name and the name of the person you are replacing. Feel free to use the festival Blog for discussions about this kind of exchange.
After booking
After your booking has been processed you will receive an email or letter confirming your workshop place/s. On the day, your name will be on the list at the workshop door - please arrive at least 10 minutes before your workshop starts to sign in at the desk.
What to bring/What to wear
What to Bring:
As a courtesy: to your instructor and your fellow dancers please be on time for your workshop. It is distracting when students enter the room late.
Cancellations: Please note festival organisers reserve the right to cancel workshops without notice should the workshop not meet minimum attendance requirements. In the case that a workshop is cancelled participants may choose between a full refund or an alternative workshop.
Filming/videotaping: Please note that the use of film equipment or photography during workshops is at the discretion of the instructor.

What to bring/What to wear
What to Bring:
- Please check the workshop description page for details provided by each instructor about the requirements of their workshop such as props or specific attire.
- To each workshop bring: a bottle of water, a pen and paper for note-taking.
- Wear comfortable clothes you can move easily in. Some instructors like to see your feet and others don't mind if you wear longs skirts so please bring dance pants just in case.
- The workshop venue rooms are carpeted, you may want to bring socks or jazz shoes for your comfort.
- Bring a hip scarf with no coins: at times it can be difficult for instructors to project voices over the sound of many coin belts so please bring a noiseless belt.
