Johara is an established performer and teacher based in Sydney. She has a wealth of knowledge having studied with many Australian and international teachers. Johara travels regularly to Egypt to further enhance her technique and style and immerse herself in Arabic culture. An exotic and passionate dancer, Johara's style draws from her diverse knowledge of Folkloric genres to Classical and Modern Egyptian cabaret. She integrates fluid footwork, graceful turns and spins with dynamic Egyptian hip and belly movements. Johara's students enjoy her detailed knowledge, technical skill and precision, as well as her deep understanding of body mechanics.
In Egypt Johara has enjoyed intensive workshops with many Master Teachers (Raqia Hassan, Aida Nour and Mahmoud Reda) and regularly studies with Yasmina of Cairo, Caroline Evanoff, Outi of Cairo and American based dancer Nisaa. She has studied Oriental Bellydance, folkloric dance and also explored tribal and fusion styles. Her resume and her dancing are impressive and varied, which reflects her passion and love for the dance. A regular favourite at WAMED Festival (Perth), Newcastle Festival and Bahar Bayram Camp (Qld), Johara is excited to be invited to teach in Finland this June and is looking forward to presenting her latest workshop for beginner students at this years Wollongong Belly Dance Festival.
