Wollongong Belly Dance Festival 2011 is an exciting 3 day event which aims to celebrate the diverse traditions of belly dance, folkloric Middle Eastern dance, and its fusions. The festival, which is the first of its kind for the Illawarra and South Coast, is dedicated to fostering a sense of Middle Eastern dance community, and to provide dancers from around Australia and beyond the opportunity to expand their knowledge by attending workshops, dance shows, not to mention the chance to mingle, shop and be merry!
With the intention of promoting local performers and artists the festival will be attended by some of Australia's most talented teachers and performers to provide productive and energising workshops and shows. Whether you're a spectator, a curious beginner, or a seasoned professional Wollongong Belly Dance Festival promises an exciting and fun-filled weekend of dance for all. Wollongong Belly Dance Festival is produced by Virginia Keft-Kennedy, principal and artistic director of Cinnamon Twist Belly Dance.
